Woman Crochets ‘Cat Pod’ With Low Expectations, Unprepared for Her Response

A woman made her cat a crochet creation and has melted the hearts of the internet.

Lise Goossens (@goosen.lise) uploaded adorable footage of her black and white cat in her new handmade bed.

The cat crawls into and rolls around her crocheted cave after owner Lise admitted she didn’t think her pet would like it.

In adorable footage that has amassed 16.9 million views, the kitten cocoons into the blue yarn creation and TikTok users were left doe-eyed.

Lise posted on TikTok: “Me crocheting a cat pod thinking my cat won’t like it.

“My cat:”

One perceptive user said the cat mom had made the bed in colors her kitty could see.

According to the cat charity Cats Protection, the colors cats see best are blue and yellow.

They cannot see the vast array of colors humans can due to the construction of their eyes; red and green appear to them as shades of gray, the organization writes.

One user said: “Oh to be a cat in a cat pod.”

User ZazieRosa added: “The bed will already have your scent on it from when you made it so she feels extra safe.”

A cat shelter worker said she wanted to get similar beds for her work but wondered how she would clean them.

Lise replied: “Just put it in the washing machine! If you use real wool use the wool program.”

Choosing a comfy bed for your cat is important since they sleep for around 16 hours a day. Cats like a den that is warm, private, and with a good lookout spot, Cats Protection advised, making the crochet pod a perfect place.

Another cat went viral in February for his crochet creation. A feline called Pepé was suffering from hot spot, a skin infection, on his inner leg, so his owner made him overalls.

In October, a picture of a Russian Blue cat called Sasha from Italy wowed the internet with her owner’s ingenious creation, crochet ear muffs, to keep her cat warm during the winter months.

Marzia, Sasha’s owner, said cats regulate their body temperature through their ears which is why she decided to make the muffs.

Newsweek reached out to the original poster for comment via Instagram. We could not verify the details of the case.
