Will Taylor Swift Attend Travis Kelce’s First Chiefs Game?
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
As Travis Kelce gears up for his season opener with the Kansas City Chiefs against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5, all eyes are on whether his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, will be there to cheer him on. With the 34-year-old pop sensation’s Eras Tour wrapping up its European leg at London’s Wembley Stadium in late August, her schedule is clear for September, sparking rumors of her possible attendance at Arrowhead Stadium.
Swift isn’t just a sideline supporter — she’s become a familiar face in the stands at Chiefs games, having marked her presence at 13 games last season alone. From her first appearance on September 24, 2023 in Kansas City to her last when the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, the “Cruel Summer” singer has proved to be a dedicated fan.
So, how did the couple’s love story take off? It all started with a friendship bracelet and a bit of NFL charm at a pop concert. The 34-year-old tight end, in a move that was half grand gesture, half hopeful shot in the dark, decided to attend Swift’s Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium in July 2023. He had one mission — to slip the Grammy winner a friendship bracelet with his phone number.
Kelce shared the scoop on this heartfelt yet slightly thwarted attempt during an episode of the New Heights podcast. The episode, which aired last year on July 26, had the football champ opening up about the lengths he went to in order to catch Swift’s attention. “I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” he admitted. “If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it…. She doesn’t meet anybody — or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal.”
Of course, the stars eventually aligned, and the rest is history. Swift began showing up at Kelce’s games, while he reciprocated by becoming a staple at her concerts. With all the mutual support they’ve shown, it’s no wonder fans are buzzing about whether the music icon will be in the stands for Kelce’s first Chiefs game of the season. Only time will tell!
