Watch: Trent Boult takes a stunner to dismiss Bas de Leede in NZ vs NED World Cup 2023 match

Taking stunning catches at the boundary is something which Trent Boult has made a habit of in his storied career. On Monday, he repeated a similar feat when he took the catch of Bas de Leede during New Zealand’s World Cup clash against Netherlands in Hyderabad.

In the 17th over of the innings which was bowled by Rachin Ravindra, De Leede tried to clear the long-off boundary. However, despite the elevation, the ball did not get the distance and Boult dived up to take the catch and lost balance as he landed on the ground near the boundary. He then threw the ball back in the air, went over the boundary and returned back to the field of play to complete a marvelous catch.

Earlier, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra and Tom Latham defied the sluggishness of the pitch to construct well-paced fifties and lead New Zealand to a healthy 322 for 7 against Netherlands on Monday.

After being asked to bat first, Young (70 off 80 balls) and Ravindra (51 off 51 balls) gave the Kiwis some momentum against the Dutch bowlers, who exploited the slowness of the track with an assortment of slow balls and cutters.

Captain Latham gave some impetus to the Black Caps while making a 46-ball 53 towards the business end of the innings.

When Latham was the seventh batter to be dismissed at the score of 293 in the 49th over and the Kiwis might have felt the need to add a few extra runs.
