Owner Not Prepared as ‘Thief’ Cat Returns Home With Full Pack of Cigarettes

A cat’s sneaky antics earned herself a spot on the hot seat after continually bringing home stolen items.

Owner Megan, known on TikTok as @meganchristiann, told Newsweek that she taught her cat to play fetch when she was just a kitten, but she never expected that behavior to evolve into what her cat is now: a “thief.”

Every day, the cat will return from her adventures outside with something in her mouth. She hops onto the roof and sneaks inside through the window, proudly dropping off her newly found item with a sly smile. Megan said her initial reaction was “Wow!”

In an August 9 TikTok video, Megan filmed her cat coming through the window with the day’s delivery. Once again, the cat had gone outside hunting and returned with what she considered a prize. This time, the cat walked in with a “pack of 20 and some rizla,” or a full pack of cigarettes and rolling papers.

The cat has earned quite a reputation, between the cigarettes and pack of ibuprofen she has stolen. This thief-like behavior is common for cats. The website Catster says that felines will bring home gifts or even dead animals as a sign of affection, to show off their catch or to “educate” their owners about hunting.

This isn’t the first time Megan’s cat has been caught stealing random items, and it certainly won’t be the last. The cat will steal during the day, sometimes at night. She’ll “bring something back every single day.”

“I’m not sure where she goes or how she gets it,” Megan said, but she suspects her cat ventures to the big park next to their house.

If she gets the money, Megan would love to purchase a cat collar to track where her cat goes and find out where she keeps stealing items.

TikTokers React

The TikTok video amassed over 921,700 views and 66,500 likes as of Tuesday. Viewers are calling the cat a “provider” and generous for bringing items to her owner.

“He said, ‘Here and don’t be a snitch,'” commented one TikToker.

Another joked: “At the price that they cost these days, I need to start teaching my cat to do that for me.”

Others shared what their kleptomaniac cats had stolen, which included a “full cooked chicken that was still warm,” a baby hamster and kitten and socks in various sizes.
