Biopics are biographies in film form that follow the most iconic people who have graced this planet. Naturally, some of the best actors are called upon to take these roles. Rami Malek portrayed Freddie Mercury of Queen, Taron Egerton portrayed Elton John, and Joaquin Phoenix portrayed Johnny Cash.

The Academy-Award-winning actor set to portray Madden has also been decided.

According to Variety, Nicolas Cage will take on the role of Madden in the biopic from director David O. Russell.

Russell is responsible for popular works like “American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbooks,” “The Fighter,” and many more. All three mentioned films landed Russell Academy Award nominations.

Cage has been known to pick wild roles, especially in recent years. After a host of straight-to-DVD titles, Cage has seen a resurgence in his career. He recently portrayed a highly exaggerated version of his own self in “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” which received rave reviews.

Now, Cage will be responsible for taking on the role of one of the most dynamic characters the NFL has ever seen.

As stated, Madden became a juggernaut in the NFL world after ending his time as a coach. Following his departure from the Raiders, he would join CBS as a color commentator in 1979.

It didn’t take long for Madden’s expertise and natural lively and flamboyant delivery and personality to lead to a career that spanned decades. Madden worked for CBS, FOX, NBC, and ABC and became the voice of a generation.

Madden’s dynamic personality also led to the highly successful video game series that began in 1988 and continues on to this day.

Now, Cage will step into the role and deliver his take on this iconic NFL great.
