Meghan Markle Showcases Spring Floral Style
The Duchess of Sussex showcased her chic spring floral style on a recent visit to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) where she took part in a special book reading as part of a charitable literacy program.
On March 21, Meghan spent time with several of the CHLA’s young patients, reading to them from the hit children’s books Rosie the Riveter by Sarah Dvojack and Pete the Cat by James Dean and Eric Litwin.
The reading took place in connection with the hospital’s Literally Healing program, which promotes literacy and annually gifts more than 65,000 books to CHLA patients and their families. The duchess’ visit also coincided with the hospital’s #MakeMarchMatter fundraising campaign.
Photographs and video footage of Meghan’s previously unannounced visit to the hospital were released on the CHLA social media channels on Tuesday, showing the royal posing with the children and reading for the group.
For the occasion, Meghan displayed her effortlessly chic aesthetic, with a twist of spring florals.
The duchess wore a skirt and blouse ensemble from the fashion house of Oscar de la Renta. The pleated skirt features a largescale floral motif in layered chiffon.
This is not the first time fans of the royal will have seen this particular outfit. In the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, a photograph of the duchess wearing the same look featured in a photograph taken with Prince Harry and the couple’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, taken outside Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
To accessorize for the March CHLA visit, Meghan wore a pair of simple black flats with an ankle strap from one of her favorite luxury footwear brands, Aquazzura.
“To round out the end of another great #MakeMarchMatter campaign, on Thursday, March 21st, CHLA patients and their families were treated to a very special Literally Healing story time with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex,” the hospital said via its Instagram page on Tuesday.
“They were laughing and singing as she read patient favorites like Rosie the Riveter, Pete the Cat and I Saw a Cat. With literacy, development and fun in mind, the mom of two also helped kids with activities tied to each book that let kids explore counting, colors, problem solving and more.”
Newsweek approached representatives of the Duchess of Sussex via email for comment.
So far, Meghan has made a number of public appearances in 2024, including taking part in a special panel at the South by Southwest entertainment industry conference, titled: “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen.”
In March, the duchess also soft-launched her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, with a website and Instagram page. While not much is known about the brand so far, trademark filings link its planned output with several ranges of products from tableware to stationary and pet food.
