Meet The New Document-Comparison Solution Lawyers Are Switching To [Sponsored]
Productivity throughout the legal industry requires reliable document-comparison software, but recent industry consolidation has reduced the options that law firms now have.
Fewer options have forced law firms around the world to reluctantly settle for existing solutions at inflated prices. But these struggles also sparked an opportunity.
Draftable, a global document-comparison provider, announced during ILTACon in August 2023 the release of Draftable Legal – a brand-new document-comparison solution made specifically for legal professionals.
The result: Law firms now have a viable alternative for their document comparison software needs.
That’s because Draftable Legal was specially designed to fill in gaps and save legal professionals time.
Commenting on the launch, Brendan McGreevy, Commercial Director at Draftable, added, “We started seeing more lawyers reaching out to us, citing three key changes in the document comparison market: sharply rising prices, eroding customer support, and dwindling product choices.
“While the legal sector has always had high demand for our general-purpose document comparison software, we weren’t always able to meet lawyers’ unique needs. So we’ve spent the past two years developing Draftable Legal directly with lawyers; and we’re thrilled to have crossed the finishing line – or the starting line, depending on how you look at it.
“The response to our launch has been overwhelmingly positive, especially with the imminent termination of Workshare and DocsCorp support!”
Draftable’s original side-by-side comparison solution gained popularity over the past decade with more than 750 global brands, notably in the finance, tech, and insurance sectors. But it wasn’t entirely suitable for the unique needs of most law firms. Recognizing this gap, the Draftable team took action.
Draftable Legal was specifically created so that lawyers, paralegals, and other legal staff can effortlessly compare and highlight key differences between multiple versions of documents. The software also boasts seamless integration with Legal Document Management Systems like iManage. The software is powered by a proprietary comparison algorithm which generates highly accurate comparisons.
Draftable happily serves a global clientele with a team spread across various continents and time zones, ensuring round-the-clock support, right from its headquarters in Melbourne, Australia.
Former Banking and Finance solicitor Yulia Gosper, one of Draftable Legal’s original testers, actually left her role at Herbert Smith Freehills, an international law firm, to join Draftable as a Product Specialist. Gosper went on to say: “During my time at the law firm, I’d go through loads of documents and see so many ways to boost efficiency. Draftable turned those opportunities into reality.
“Honestly, the caliber of Draftable’s team drew me in because many came from a professional-services background, making them empathetic to challenges faced by busy professionals like lawyers. I’ve seen the Draftable team repeatedly go to great lengths to understand and solve workflow-related problems experienced by our clients.”
Another recent addition to the Draftable team is Bob Moore, a legal-technology sales veteran, former VP Sales Americas at DocsCorp (provider of the CompareDocs software and acquired by Litera in 2021) and Regional Account Executive at Workshare (acquired by Litera in 2019).
When asked about joining Draftable, Moore said, “The decision was easy. I’d been part of a successful run with DocsCorp, another Aussie-run legal document-comparison company. But after seeing Draftable’s innovative product and getting to know their dynamic team, I immediately knew how successful the product was going to be, so I wanted in!”
Lauding the new additions to the team, Ben Toner, Co-founder and Chief Scientist of Draftable, stated: “We’re extremely lucky to have Bob and Yulia onboard. Their deep-rooted legal tech experience and understanding of what law firms require in software is invaluable.”
