Mary Trump’s Response to Mar-a-Lago Press Conference Goes Viral

Mary Trump wrote several widely viewed social media posts during her uncle, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s afternoon press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

In his speech on Thursday, the GOP presidential candidate spoke on a range of topics, notably confirming that he has agreed to debate Vice President Kamala Harris three times in September.

He said the two will face off on September 4 on Fox News, September 10 on ABC, and September 25 on NBC, suggesting those dates were mostly buttoned up on his end but that the Harris campaign “has to agree to the terms.”

The Harris campaign had previously accepted the September 10 debate. ABC News then confirmed on Thursday that both candidates were set for the debate stage that day.

The conference also touched on the former president’s views on abortion, immigration, foreign policy, and the economy, among other topics. He called his opponent, Harris, “incompetent,” and critiqued her border policy and immigration stance under the Biden administration.

He repeatedly referenced crowd size as a measure of his support while reporters raised questions about Harris’ growing support over the past two-and-a-half weeks since President Joe Biden exited the race. Donald Trump said the crowd for his speech on the Ellipse on January 6, 2021, was bigger than the crowd that watched Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

He went on to say that nobody was killed in the riot at the Capitol. Several people did die that day, including one of his supporters, Ashli Babbitt.

Mary Trump, a vocal critic of her uncle, former president Donald Trump, wrote a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter, during the conference.

In the beginning of the conference, she wrote, “Have you ever seen a train wreck?”

A little over 20 minutes later, she then posted a crack at Donald Trump saying, “This is someone’s old racist uncle ranting on a street corner in front of a bunch of flags. I should know.”

That post was viewed over 410,000 times as of Thursday afternoon, with over 33,000 likes and upwards of 5,600 reshares.

Mary Trump’s 2020 book Too Much and Never Enough, is a tell-all book about Donald Trump and his family, in which she says he is “utterly incapable of leading this country and it’s dangerous to allow him to do so.”

After it’s release, Donald Trump called the book “disgraceful,” and told Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, that “She was not exactly a family favorite,” adding, “We didn’t have a lot of respect or like for her.”

Shortly after Trump’s press conference, Mary Trump held an “emergency” Nerd Avengers meeting hosted on her YouTube channel, where she continued her critique of his speech, saying, “He’s clearly rattled, he is afraid, he looks frail, he’s weak, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, he’s all over the place… he rambles, he goes on tangents that make no sense.”
