Kate’s Uncle Says Prince Harry Will Get Second Chance

The Princess of Wales’ uncle believes that Prince Harry would be welcomed back to Britain and given a second “chance” by the public should he choose to return, despite his rift with the royal family.

Gary Goldsmith, the younger brother of Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, and often referred to as the “black sheep” of the princess’ family, spared no time in discussing the royals after entering the Celebrity Big Brother reality TV show on Monday.

Filmed in conversation with Sharon Osbourne in a clip which aired on Tuesday night, Goldsmith claimed that in spite of Harry’s bombshells directed at the royals, the British public are a “very forgiving nation.”

“I just think it is really sad because at some point I think he’s going to want to come back and be part of the gang,” he said of Harry. “He might need to, but I think we’re a very forgiving nation and I think everybody will give him a chance again.”

The comment comes as Goldsmith has been an outspoken critic of Harry and wife, Meghan Markle’s, perceived criticisms of Kate and the wider royal family.

Also in the conversation with Osbourne he revealed that though he had never met Meghan, he believed she “creates so much drama” and that she “rewrote history” in telling Harry “how unhappy he was.”

In an interview given to tabloid newspaper The Sun before entering the Big Brother house, Goldsmith praised his niece while taking aim at her brother- and sister-in-law.

“She’s beautiful on the outside, but more beautiful on the inside and really is a doting mom,” he said.

“That’s why I got so upset with Harry and Meghan because you don’t put a stick into that spoke and reinvent history.

“I’ve got pretty miffed when they had a pop at my beautiful niece who couldn’t say anything for herself.

“I think everyone felt the same about how much did we love Harry and then throwing your family under the bus just seemed inappropriate, especially what was happening with the queen. I just thought it was totally unnecessary.”

Newsweek approached representatives of Prince Harry via email for comment.

Goldsmith’s appearance on the reality TV show has raised eyebrows in Britain as Kate continues to make front page news over her recovery from abdominal surgery which was announced back in January.

With the princess’ absence from the public eye estimated to last until “after Easter” while she recovers, a spate of conspiracy theories and social media posts speculating over her whereabouts and condition have proved a PR challenge for Kensington Palace.

So far, aides have declined to provide a “running commentary” on Kate’s health, though insist she continues to do “well.”

On Monday, the royal was photographed by the paparazzi for the first time since Christmas Day, being driven in a car by her mother near Windsor wearing dark glasses, reportedly after taking her children to school.

So far, Kensington Palace has not commented on Goldsmith’s Celebrity Big Brother appearance.

There is a chance that the royals could be spared the potential for prolonged embarrassment over the revelations Goldsmith could make. On Tuesday night, Osbourne nominated the 58-year-old to face a eviction from the house.

The public will vote on whether to keep Goldsmith and a group of other, as yet unnominated, co-stars in the show, with the results being announced on Friday.
