Dog Owner Finds Something Unexpected on Walk—Complete With a Sweet Note

The internet has been moved by the special surprise one dog found during his walk by the river in York.

Burt the Greyhound and his owner were taking a stroll when they stumbled upon a bucket. They frequent this path, but this was the first time they saw what a dog named Molly left for other canines.

Molly must’ve been quite the hunter when it came to finding tennis ball treasures. Over time she collected these toys and her stash became too much for her. Lending a paw, she and her owner decided to share the wealth.

The July 27 TikTok video posted to the account @burt_the_greyhound revealed a black bucket placed next to a wall. Upon further investigation, Burt and his owner discovered in the bucket were tennis balls with a note. The note reads: “FREE Balls found by Molly. Help yourself!”

Molly and her owner left the extra tennis balls she discovered for other canines to enjoy. And Burt couldn’t resist.

Burt cautiously sniffed each tennis ball until he found the one. He picked it up and proudly walked off with his new toy.

“Such a lovely surprise! We’ll definitely be checking back again soon,” the owner told Newsweek via TikTok.

Burt wasn’t the only one to enjoy the little surprise. TikTok viewers were touched by Molly’s generosity.

“This has given me so much joy,” commented one user, while another added: “What a nice surprise!!”

A third joked: “Good selection.”

Even though this was already part of their walk, Burt will likely lead them to this spot again and again.

Tennis Ball Thrills

There’s no denying dogs have a special love for tennis balls whether it’s to play a game of fetch or simply to chew until their heart’s content. But what is the fascination with this specific ball?

Dog Time reported that tennis balls mimic the movement of prey, which brings out a dog’s hunting instincts. The ball moves erratically and stimulates the chase that dogs obsess over. Playing with tennis balls also releases endorphins and dopamine in a dog’s brain, which provides them with pleasure and happiness.

Another theory as to why dogs love tennis balls is because of their color. Dogs do not see the full spectrum of colors like humans. Instead, they primarily perceive shades of blue and yellow, and given a tennis ball’s vivid color, it makes it particularly eye-catching.
